Power Rescue

Powerpets is dedicated to animal rescue and habitat restoration around the world.
Whenever we have the chance and available funding, we randomly select organizations to make contributions to.

: 32 | : 2 | Burn Victim - [ Comments: 34 ] - A few weeks ago, we became aware of Hadley, who had been rescued by the Humane Society of Kent County after being doused in accelerant and put on fire. Hadley's owners had to turn their family pet over to the Humane Society since they could not afford the cost of his care.

The Humane society has been working hard to heal Hadley's burn wounds, a long and expensive process which has been quite successful so far as Hadley is back on his feet.

Today, we have sent US$1,000 to HSKC. We would like to thank everyone who purchased the Hadley gift pack which was available for purchase in the Credit Store, and everyone who made donations directly to the HSKC.

Non-profit and Charity organizations are hit especially hard during these economic downturns, and Powerpets is committed to keep helping those who are looking out for our pets.

Again, thanks to everyone for supporting Hadley and the Powerpets Rescue Fund.

: 31 | : 1 | Better life - [ Comments: 32 ] - Everything has been processed, and thanks to you guys we've been able to support 16 cats and dogs. The money will be used for veterinary care, housing and food for the animals. There's no picture of Randy because he's a black dog and he was in a dark area.

We hope this donation will make life more enjoyable for the animals as they await to be taken to their forever homes. All these animals and many more are available for adoption at Hart 90

: 9 | : 1 | HART90 - [ Comments: 10 ] - Throughout January we assisted HART90 with collecting votes and support for a Care2 shelter contest. While they didn't end up in first place, they did end up in a money winning position that will help them to continue supporting animals.

: 11 | Gryphon Giftpack - [ Comments: 11 ] - Thanks to everyone who purchased Gryphon Giftpacks this year, we have been able to donate a fair chunk of change to the Progressive Animal Welfare Society in Washington.

This year, we were able to sponsor two dog and two cat kennels for a year. They'll each hold a plaque bearing Gryphon's name. We were also able to donate money on top of that for PAWS to purchase whatever items they need on their wishlist.

PP flies to Florida - Santa visited the Elementary school that I work at. He brought with him candy canes and PowerPets stuffies for each of the Kindergarten students. PowerPets donated a stuffed animal to each child to have for Christmas. Between Sweetfire, TheMetal and -SC-, we had enough stuffed animals for each child to have their very own Gekkie, Lil Roo, Nova, Nora, or Kyla.

Santa was a hit when he made silly comments about each stuffy. He called Gekkie a dinosaur. Nora was the chipmunk with spiky hair.

Lil Roo was a chipmunk with a bandana. I think maybe we need to invite Santa to play PowerPets in his spare time! The children hugged and played with the animals the rest of the day.

For some of these children, this may be the only gift that they get for Christmas. I overheard one child ask Santa for a Christmas Tree for their house. A few of my students were asked what they wanted for Christmas and they said they just wanted a Candy Cane. Many of these children are very needy and aren't even able to think of something that they really would like to have. They appreciate each and every thing they receive. I want to thank PowerPets for giving almost 100 children a very special present.

Barlee's Angels are usually abandoned, unwanted, abused or stray animals. These animals come primarily from shelters. Barlee's strongly supports responsible pet ownership.

: 19 | Wiggle Waggle Walk-a-thon - [ Comments: 19 ] - Powerpets is pleased to help sponsor Syxx who is participating in the 19th Annual Wiggle Waggle Walk-a-thon to raise funds for the Hamilton SPCA (Ontario). Syxx adopted her dog Princess from this shelter and will be walking the walk with her.

Walking for the animals will help benefit the abandoned, abused and neglected that are continually rescued by your Hamilton/Burlington SPCA.

: 31 | Free Kibble? - [ Comments: 31 ] - In August 2008, Powerpets started to sponsor Freekibble.com. Freekibble was started by 12 year old Mimi from Oregon, in order to raise food (kibble) to donate to cats and dogs to shelters throughout the United States.

You can support this good cause simply by going to the site daily and answering a little bit of trivia. If you do, 20 pieces of kibble will be donated to a shelter.

: 26 | : 3 | Pyrenees Rescue - [ Comments: 29 ] - All of you already know that we do our part to help keep you safe. By staying hooked on Powerpets and spending your summer in the comfort of your own home, rather than being outside suffering the harsh consequences of too much sun, or ending up on a crashing plane, sinking boat or traffic accident that involves out of state people with weird accents, we keep you healthy and happy.

In July, through Suggest A Shelter, we found a farm rescue that had received four Pyrenees dogs in desperate need of help. Suffering from heart worm disease and neglect, these beautiful dogs were living a life not worth living.

Seeing the massive costs Sasha Farm faced to get these dogs back on their feet, we realized the regular Power Rescue fund would be insufficient. We started a rally to raise awareness of this issue and gather the funds required to cover the medical and grooming expenses these dogs faced. Two special Rescue Giftpacks were made available containing rescue dog stuffies and a Yellow Flame Fur Tonic.

Thanks to all our players, we have already been able to send Sasha Farm a total of US$3,000.

Throughout the month, we kept track of their progress as they went to the groomers and the veterinarian. Unfortunately it's a bit of a slow process, so we are still waiting on a final cost. The dogs do look a lot better after their grooming though! By request, one was even named after the most famous hamster on Powerpets - NOVA!

Stay tuned, as we find out more, we'll be updating this article.

: 53 | : 4 | Kennel Doors - [ Comments: 57 ] - Through a submission of one of our players to the Power Rescue Shelter List, we have decided to make a contribution to the Providence Rhode Island Animal Rescue League. This contribution was made directly towards their new kennel doors for which they will require a total of $6,000. We hope in the future to make more contributions toward this goal so their dogs won't go running all over the place!

: 92 | : 3 | Supporting Animals - [ Comments: 95 ] -
Four doggies have been sponsored today. Scarlett O'Hara, Noelle (top), Gordon and Bridgett (bottom). We hope this little contribution will make Valentines a bit happier for these little guys.

We're also sponsoring a newspaper ad for HART90, as those often result in adoptions for some animals.

If you are looking for a new friend, make sure to check out your local shelter, or Homeless Animal Rescue Team website. Maybe a new friend for your current pet so they have a playmate?

Don't forget - previously owned animals are up to date on their shots, have had behavioral assessments by the shelters, often know basic commands and won't chew up furniture and poo all over your carpet like little puppies will.
